The Basilisk

In European mythology and legends a Basilisk is a reptile, supposed to be king of serpents.

In the Greek language, Basilisk means Little King and also the Latin name for Basilisk is Regulus.

A Basilisk is hatched from a cocks egg. The Basilisk’s smell can kill a snake and the fire coming from its mouth can kill a bird. At a glance it can kill a man and it can also kill by hissing, while it’s bite causes the victim to become hydrophobic and it’s poisonous breath can kill shrubs and animals.

According to some legends a Basilisk can be killed by hearing the crow of a rooster or looking at itself in a mirror.

I am very happy I had to do a project on a Basilisk because I think they are very interesting.
